The Island of Yell is a veritable hotspot for wildlife and great for spotting various birds or even the odd otter. Ideal for walks along the coast and nearby beaches. Yell is the largest of Shetland's North Isles, with a population of roughly 950. It is connected to mainland Shetland by 20 minute ferry service which runs throughout the day from the ferry terminal at Ulsta at the south end of the island to Toft about 10 minutes from Brae and approximately 27 miles from Lerwick. A ferry from the north end of Yell runs to the neighbouring Island of Unst.
